Vasily Kokorev

researcher at State Hydrological Institute

I am a young climatologist from Russia currently working in KNMI, Netherlands. Currently I am working on developing a probabalistic seasonal forecast of drought in South-East Asia. Additionally, I am interested in developing strategies for rathinal usage of probabalistic forecasts in descision making. Based on my past research background, my other research interest includes GCMs evaluation, modern climate change in the Arctic, permafrost modeling and carbon cycle in the Arctic. Since 2007 till 2016, I have worked in climate department of State Hydrological Institute and has contributed to more than 20 different research projects mostly focusing on climate change impacts in the Arctic. During my time at the SHI I was honored to have the opportunity to take part in the preparation of IPCC working group 2 fifth assessment report playing role of a chapter scientist in "Polar regions" chapter and later served as a co-lead of the "water resources" section in the Arctic Fresh Water Syntesis report.
